MRI

Today, I had to have an MRI scan of my back. I had a rollover car accident several years ago and I'm just now suffering the after affects of that. It's an interesting test. If you've never had the experience, they send you into a large tunnel machine, which is very close to your face. They put earplugs in your ears and talk to you through a microphone once you're inside. As the pulsating imaging took place, I felt these strange muscle spasms in my left armpit! Was kind of strange, but harmless. (I hope!) I can see how people would end up having an anxiety attack or get claustrophobic, it's tight quarters for sure. Anyway, it lasted about 15 minutes and wasn't as bad as I thought. Will get results soon.

Awesome...

I had a fantastic day today! I spent it with someone very special to me. We hung out by the pool, talked, relaxed, cooked on the grill, then came back to my place for desert. I could go on and on but a girl has to keep some stuff to herself. Right?

Hope you've had a great day too!

Question of the day...

Nice Day!

Today, i'm going to Kelly's for a cookout. It will be great to see her. The weather is nice after almost four days of rain! It will be nice to hang out together and talk, i've missed her.

(Edited: Had a really nice time today. It was great to see where Kelly lives and all her 'kids'. She raises Pugs, who are extremely cute and intelligent little creatures. There are so many of them that it's hard to remember all their names but i'm working on that. She made margaritas and we cooked hot dogs and cheese burgers on the grill. Later, in the evening we sat around the fire and talked and just enjoyed each other's company. Oh yea, we're there other guests?? hmm...

Tanning

We (Tonya and me) went to the gym today and I finally started tanning. I only went in for 5 minutes, since i'm so white I didn't want to fry. The time went quickly enough. I really don't like that the cover to the tanning bed comes down so close to my face but i'll get over it. I hope.

Changes...

Going to the gym. I've been going for several months now, and the results are finally showing in the way my clothes are fitting and the way I feel about myself in general. It's great when your efforts at making yourself look and feel better are noticed. People have started to make comments. I've lost weight and my clothes size is shrinking along with my body. It's been a long process that has a lot of ups and downs. A friend pointed out to me that people want to talk to me more and be around me and that fact hasn't escaped me, she's right. That seems so shallow, doesn't it? I mean, I'm the same person. What's up with that anyway?

A funny story...

A young farm lad from North Iowa goes off to college. About 1/3 of the way through the semester, he has foolishly squandered away all of the money his parents gave him. Then he gets an idea.

He calls his daddy. "Dad," he says, "you won't believe the wonders that modern education is coming up with! Why, they actually have a program here at Iowa State that will teach our dog, Ole Blue, how to talk!"

"That's absolutely amazing," his father says. "How do I get him in that program?" "Just send him down here with $1,000" the boy says. "I'll get him into the course." So, his father sends the dog and the $1,000. About two-thirds way through the semester, the money runs out. The boy calls his father again.

"So, how's Ole Blue doing, son?" his father asks. "Awesome, Dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't believe this - they've had such good results with this program that they've implemented a new one to teach the animals how to READ!" "READ," says his father, "No kidding! What do I have to do to get him in that program? "Just send $2,500, I'll get him in the class." His father sends the money. The boy now has a problem. At the end of the year, his father will find out that the dog can neither talk, nor read. So he shoots the dog.

When he gets home at the end of the semester, his father is all excited. "Where's Ole Blue? I just can't wait to see him talk and read something!" "Dad," the boy says, I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Ole Blue was in the living room kicked back in the recliner, reading the Wall Street Journal, like he usually does. Then he turned to me and asked, So, is your daddy still messin' around with that little redhead who lives in town? 'The father says, "I hope you SHOT that son of a bitch before he talks to your Mother!" "I sure did, Dad!" "That's my boy!"

(The kid went on to be a successful lawyer...)

New Hair-do!

Today, I took the plunge and got my hair cut and permed. It was drastic! Nine inches were cut off and I only wanted three. Hopefully hair really does grow back!

Oh yeah, I had a nice sunburn in this photo too!

Pie Contest

Tonight, I made a pie for the first time! I got the idea from work, when i asked Barb to make a strawberry-rhubarb pie with crumble topping and bring it in tomorrow. She said we should have a pie contest. She asked a couple other co-workers to make one and bring theirs in. I've never made a pie and I thought she was crazy.
Kelly got on the computer and found a recipe and i wrote it down, bought the ingredients and took on the challenge. As soon as i got home, i made it with not a lot of hope of success to tell you the truth. I'll take it to work tomorrow and see what they think...???
