Happy Anniversary to ME!

Today is the one-year anniversary of being sworn in to my job. I made it a whole year. It took a lot for me to change the way I was living, breaking out of my "comfort zone". I'm very happy that I made some changes and I'm out of that town for good. I kept myself so closed off for so long that I forgot who I really was. Sounds funny but for me it's major.

Hooray! for me.

22nd Birthday!

I went to PI tonight and visited Jamison and his "family" It's his birthday today and he turned 22. Yep, my baby is all grown up and I'm very proud of him. He wouldn't take a day off from work though to spend with me. I'm glad he loves his work, but it wouldn't have been that hard to take an afternoon off. It's okay. I'll survive. I think it's fantastic that he's developed into a very responsible person. That's a tremendous change from the person he was a few years ago. I'm so proud of him and love him so much. He's definately a survivor.

Vacation Day # 3

Well, last night I decided to visit my sister. I called the bus station and got a ticket. I decided to save money on gas and Sonia said she'd bring me home and that means I'll be able to bring a load of my stuff back with me. I'm slowly cleaning out my storage unit and getting rid of stuff during each trip up here. So that's what I'll be doing from now until Saturday when I go home.

Oh yea, I almost forgot... on the ride up here, the bus hit a moose! It didn't get killed, it got up and ran into the woods. The bus driver said there was no blood or evidence of a kill, so we were all quite happy about that. I probably won't write much the rest of the week, but I'll catch up later. Night.

Vacation Day #2

Mornin'. As I was going through all the papers and junk from yesterday's boxes, I came across an old email I saved from 2002. I thought I'd share- here goes:

Weird American History

(Have a history teacher explain this...if they can.)

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird....

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Both men were assassinated by southerners.
Both men were succeeded by southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat...

Lincoln was shot at the theatre named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Creepy huh? Hey this is one history lesson people don't mind reading.

Have a great day and I'm off to finish with my "paperwork"............... lay-tahhh!!

Hello again. It's 1:00 pm and my new Leona Lewis CD came in the mail from Amazon today. What a voice she has. The whole CD is fantastic. Get it!

Vacation Day #1

Today, I spent the day going through junk papers, shredding and throwing away stuff that's been in boxes. I have a tendancy to keep papers for certain bits of information. I also have a habit of tearing out complete articles from magazines, so I can throw the magazine away. Some of these magazines are $5 to $10 and I buy them for one article and throw the rest in the trash. Weird, I know. Wasteful? Definately.

Oh, I watched the movie "Transformers" twice today. (isn't Cinemax wonderful?) I always miss stuff the first time I see a movie, or I fall asleep. I liked it. I liked the Autobots. Throughout the day though, boredom attracted me to the refrigerator about 11 times! And each time, expecting something good to materialize out of thin air. Nope, no such luck. Damn.

But, anywho, that's how I spent my day. How was your day?

Vacation

Sunday, is the beginning of my last week of vacation for the rest of the year. I took my first week off in January because it was the only week left. Senority rules at my place of employment and I'm on the bottom of the pile, unfortunately.

Anywho, I'm going to visit my son and sister. My son will be celebrating his 22nd birthday on the 15th. I can't believe it! Where has the time gone?! He was such a gorgeous little baby and toddler. He's grown into a handsome young man. I wish he'd find a beautiful young woman and fall in love and have gorgeous little grandbabies for me to spoil! Oh well, I'll be patiently waiting for that to happen. Dammit.

Lay-tah!

"Serenity Now"...

serenity : noun:
calm, peace, tranquility, composure, peace of mind, stillness, quietness, peacefulness, placidity.

...and seriously, this sort of action requires some humor, as a partner to get me to change my ways. I mean, the only person who can make this happen for me, is ME!

Favorite quote:

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change those things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."
